Welcome to Chrysalis Fine Fabrics & Furnishings. As Tallahassee’s largest decorative fabric shop, we are conveniently located in the heart of The Market District at 1410 Market Street between My Favorite Things and Abraham George Patio.

SusanOwner Susan Hugunin grew up on the east coast of central Florida and has always had a great love (obsession) with all things textile related. She has a BS in Fashion Merchandising from Florida State University and a BA in Interior Design from Southern Institute of Design at Virginia College in Birmingham, AL. Susan and her husband Mike, moved to Tallahassee after his early retirement in 2003. They have two grown children and two 4-legged children, Romeo and George.

Since purchasing the 20 year old local business in 2005, Susan has assembled a talented team at Chrysalis to serve all the customer’s design needs. You’ll soon discover that our main focus is excellent customer service. We are more than a designer fabric store – we really love what we do, and get tremendous satisfaction when we help our customers make their homes more beautiful. The end result is a warm and friendly atmosphere in which to create the designs of your dreams.

kristaKrista Vickers started working at Chrysalis as a college intern because of her love of textiles. Her family moved to Tallahassee and made it their home when she was 17, and she graduated from Lincoln High School. After obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from Florida State University, Krista continued in her studies receiving a Master’s Degree in Housing with an emphasis in Residential Development and Product Specification. Because of her love of textiles, Krista came to Chrysalis as a college intern. She strives for excellent customer service and loves helping customers create their dream home.

Krista and husband David, from Havana, reside with two wonderful pets – Piper the cat and a dog named Cassie.

DannaDanna Rutledge, grew up in Miami and graduated from the University of Florida. She has two grown children. Emily is 28 and was recently married, Andrew is 25 and a former Florida State Seminole basketball player.

Danna started her career at Burdines where she became a buyer and was selected to travel internationally for Federated Department Stores, representing Burdines, Bloomingdales and eleven other Federated stores. She developed programs that included mens silk ties, lacquer boxes, and other men’s travel accessories and gifts from Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul and Tokyo.

Danna has always loved fabrics, design and color. She thoroughly enjoys working at Chrysalis and assisting customers in making fabric choices. Danna appreciates working with the women at Chrysalis and the knowledge they have shared with her. Danna is introducing several accessory lines to Chrysalis that add a new dimension to the design options.

Clarice Secreast grew up in Quincy and graduated from Robert F. Munroe School. She attended the University of Alabama receiving degrees in Family Studies and in Psychology.

Clarice moved to Birmingham, Alabama, married and started a family. While in Birmingham, attended Southern Institute of Design at Virginia College after realizing her continued love for Interior Design. She was employed with Kathy Harris Interiors. After moving to Tallahassee in 2002, she focused on raising her two daughters, Page and Alexandria. As a Maclay School parent, Clarice was very involved with school auctions and active in Maclay Parents Organization. She served on the decoration committee for several years. With active teens, she was involved with the girls basketball team, serving as President of the Boosters.

Clarice is active in the community as a board member for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Joining the design staff at Chrysalis Fine Fabrics in 2015 has afforded her the opportunity to explore creative design and custom installations. Her outgoing charm and attention to detail creates an atmosphere where customers feel comfortable and confident in her design solutions.

Leticia Graves grew up in Mexico City and studied interior design at Instituto de decoración de Interiores. Early in her career she worked as a design assistant for an architect firm. Letty married in 1987 and moved to Florida where she continued in the interior design field at Best Wallpaper in Clearwater, Sherwin Williams in Leesburg FL and Wallpaper it Now in Tallahassee; all while she and her husband Gary were raising 2 daughters, Marcie and Julia. When the girls were grown Letty joined the team at Design and More and then Chrysalis Fine Fabrics. Through the years she became an exceptional professional seamstress/fabricator. Her own business ‘Artela Home Fashions’ served various local Designers.
Leticia enjoys a passion for fabrics, textiles and color. Creating window treatments or pillows with fine fabrics is what she enjoys most. Her expertise shows best in custom roman shades. Letty’s warm and friendly personality along with her design expertise offers customers the perfect setting to create beautiful design projects for their homes.

Suzanne Conner studied Interior Design and Fine Arts in college and have worked with beautiful decorative fabrics for the past 23 years as a decorator. She has a fun and even creative daughter Lu and her artist husband Sonny and am married to a wonderfully talented man J.B. She has been with Chrysalis Fabrics since Arlene was designing, and all the customers know and love her.
